What better way to explore a new place than to go for a walk and search for interesting things to photograph. It’s one of my favourite things to do. And buildings are one of the best subjects. They really know their angles.
A city with a neighbourhood famous for its colourful doors?! Sign me up.
When you have a camera in your hand you look at the world differently. At least I do. I think it’s because my mind starts ‘framing’ my view as I walk around.
I know I’m not the only one to love architectural details, especially doors and doorways. Have you seen how many Instagram handles and hashtags there are on this subject? Some of my absolute best for a bit of inspiration: #raw_dnw #doorsofinstagram #doorsondoors #doorshiding
Is it possible to take a photo of every door way in a town? If it is I did it in Tallinn.
Old town…
And the new. Well ‘new’ at any rate. Most of the colourful timber buildings in the neighbourhood of Kalamaja for example are still over 100 years old, built at the turn of the century to house the factory workers when this area was home to factories.
I’ll wrap this up with this pretty pink chap.
Where should I go door hunting next?
L.
